Our cooperative society is dedicated to providing high-quality forest products and herbs while supporting the livelihoods of local tribes and promoting environmental conservation. Our primary source of income is derived from the collection and sale of medicinal plants and other forest products. We take great pride in our commitment to sustainable practices and ethical sourcing, ensuring that our members collect, grind, and pack the forest products with care and attention to detail.Our goal is to provide our customers with the highest quality forest products and herbs while simultaneously supporting the local tribes and promoting environmental conservation. We gather these resources from the forest and sell them to major Ayurvedic medicine manufacturers such as Kottaikkal Aryavaydyasala, Aushadhi, and Coimbatore Aryavaydyasala, among others.
Additionally, we purchase forest resources collected by the Irula and Muduka tribes, but only members of the Kurumba tribe are part of our cooperative society.Our annual turnover for dry herbs is approximately Rs. 5 crores. We store the collected forest resources in the respective villages, dry them, cut them into specified sizes, and then transport them to our godowns. We also generate income by selling stationary, fruits, and other items required for the model residential hostel in Mukali.As a cooperative society, we distribute 25 percent of our profits as a purchase bonus to our members. Our governing body includes individuals with extensive experience in the field, such as our president, K.S. Murugan, a former member of Putur Panchayat, and members Maruthi C, Mallika K, Shivan P, Kurumban B, Nagi K, and Soman.M. Our ex-officio members include the Forest Range Officer, Co-operative Unit Inspector, and Tribal Extension Officer. Sindhu.P serves as our secretary.
